Margaret Ann Alesch, 85, of Marcus passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Eugene Murray will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church. The family will be present from 4-7 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Thursday.

Margaret Ann Alesch was born on June 1, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Steven and Frances (Kemp) Kellen. She was 9th of 14 children. Meg graduated from St. Joseph School in Le Mars (now Gehlen) and later attended St. Joseph’s Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City.

On February 14, 1956, Meg married James Alesch at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Le Mars. Together they farmed west of Marcus, Iowa until 2000 and moved to Marcus to retire. Meg was employed as the secretary at Holy Name Catholic Church from 1976 to 1994 and also at the Heartland Care Center.

She was a kind, caring and sweet devoted Christian who prayed daily. Meg was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Guild. She had an open heart and welcomed everyone into her home. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. Meg also loved playing cards, especially “hand and foot”, doing puzzles, coloring, family camping trips and Walmart runs. Her grandchildren will always remember her homemade chicken noodle soup and her famous chocolate brownies.
Jim passed away on September 7, 2005.

Grateful to have shared her life are her 4 daughters, Kim (Randy) Daum of Alton, IA, Kelli (John) Plumb of Carlisle, IA, Kay Schat of Marcus, IA, Karla Solko (Bruce) of Aurelia, IA; 6 sons, Kirk Alesch of Marcus, IA, Kevin Alesch of Cherokee, IA, Kris (Lisa) Alesch of Early, IA, Ken (Melanie) Alesch of Le Mars, IA, Keith Alesch of Le Mars, IA, Kory (Jamie) Alesch of Remsen, IA; grandchildren, Mike (Darcie) Olson, Jackie Olson, Matt (Anne) Olson, Kristi (Mitch) Langschwager, Joe ( Misty) Daum, Jason (Cheri) Daum, Jeff (Lacey) Daum, Jacob (Katie) Alesch, Mindi Jaminet, Jordan and Caleb Cutler, Nicholas, Nathan and Nevin Plumb, Wendi Davis, Mindi Alesch, Jim (Kat) Alesch, Alyssa Johansen, Josh (Paige) Alesch, Kristopher (Susie) Alesch, Theodore Rumzek, Jessica Hewitt, Brady and Kenzi Alesch, Kraig Alesch, Kipp (Taylor) Alesch, Kayla and Kora Alesch, Jacey (Jacob) Spieler, Skylar Solko, Douglas, Kurtis, and Tiffany Bonnesen, Chloe, Garrett, and Gavin Alesch. Great-grandchildren, Tristen, Faith, Isabelle, Paige, Clara, Nolan, Ella, Kadence, Laeton, Addilyn, Kollyns, Ryden, Allison, Madison, Presley, Ivy, Cruz, Devin, Mason, Ace, Ella, Olivia, Weston, Jaylin, Ricky, Deegan, Aniyah, Tyler, Maci, Noah, Evelyn, Abrahm, Nina, River, Jettson, Kyla, Kooper, Quinn, Fallon, Veda.; 2 brothers, Don (Mary Jane) Kellen and Dick (Norrine) Kellen both of Le Mars, IA; two sisters, Mary (Jim) Wittkop of Denver, Co and Anita (Dick) Heidesch of Phoenix, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; five infant children; mother and father-in-law, Rosemary and Henry Alesch; four infant siblings; three sisters, Sylvia (Albert) Anthony, Diane (John) Cook and Pat (Harry) Carl; two brothers, LeRoy (Viola) Kellen and Robert (Glenise) Kellen; sisters-in-law, Jean (Arnie) Fetsch and Janet (John) Sizemore; brothers-in-law, Marvin Snow and Roger Levin.
