Arlene Erichsen, 89 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Tuesday, Oct 20, 2009, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen.
Arlene was born Nov. 2, 1919 at Henry Township rural Remsen, Iowa. The daughter of John & Edna (Fromme) Witt. She received her education from 1st through 3rd grade in a rural one room school house in Henry Township. Then from 4th throught high school in Remsen Grade school, graduating from Remsen High School in 1932. Arlene continued her education at Western Union College where she received a Bachelor of Art Degree. Arlene then began teaching at Minden, IA, Primghar, IA, Marcus, IA then LeMars, IA high school. She taught grades 11 & 12 commercial studies for 10 years.
On June 28, 1941 she married Arnold Erichsen at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple made their home in Remsen for the remainder of their life.
Arlene was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, St. Paul Choir for over 60 years, Sunday School Teacher, Sang Duets & Solos for funerals, taught vacation Bible School, & helped with Chapel Services for many years at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Survivors include; Her husband Arnold Erichsen of Remsen; Two sons, Carlyn Erichsen of Lawton, IA, Cevon Erichsen & his wife Dana of Sioux City, IA; Three granddaughters, Holly Erichsen of Orange County, CA, Alyssa & Abbey Erichsen of Sioux City, IA; One bother-in-law, George Erichsen & his wife Shirley of Remsen; Numerous Nieces & Nephews.
Preceded by: Her parents; One bother-in-law, Walter Erichsen & his wife Glydelle; One sister-in-law, Hilda Henrich & her husband Bill.
Casket Bearers will be, Scott Allen, Ted Nothem, Alan Harnack, Kurtis Kroeger, Charles Conover, Jeremy Homan.
Honorary Bearers will be, Vance Harnack, Ron Harnack Sr., Lynn Fromme, Marvin Nitzschke, Dave Homan, Joe Kane.
