Audrey Dee Derr, age 85 passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Audrey was born in Sac City Iowa, to Claude and Ida McBride, growing up in a farm family and attended country school, then high school in Sac City. Some of her fondest memories are of country school which she attended with her sister Sandy. Years later, the McBride girls enjoyed many country school reunions with their former Jackson Township School #8 classmates.
Audrey married Dean Corderman in 1954, and they had two children, Mike and Lori. They farmed in the Sac City area until moving to Lake City for many years. When her children were growing up, Audrey enjoyed her troop leader roles in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Audrey has always been a proud homemaker and was also a Physical Therapy aide at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City– a job she enjoyed very much. After retiring from the hospital, she married Jerry Derr, and lived in Manson, Iowa. They enjoyed visiting family and friends and participating in Veterans programs in their community.
Audrey moved to The Gardens in Cherokee in 2019 to be closer to her son Mike and his wife Susan, their children and their families.
Audrey was preceeded in death by her parents, Claude and Ida McBride; husband Jerry Derr; her brother, Everett McBride; sister, Sandra Nicholson; son, Michael Corderman and grandson Corey Henricksen.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Patrick) Henricksen; daughter-in-law, Susan Corderman; grandchildren, Tracy (Steve) Smoley, Shanna (Brandon) Carlin, Clint (Angie) Corderman, Chance (Amanda) Corderman, Christa Puhrmann and Alec (Carsyn) Henricksen; 10 great-grandchildren.
A family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimers Association or the Epilepsy Foundation SUDEP Program.
