Barbara Harris

Barbara Marie Harris, age 74, of Marcus, IA passed away on March 11, 2025 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating.  Service has been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument Earnest-Johnson Chapel in Marcus, IA.

Barbara was born December 25, 1950 to Gilbert and Margaret (Braun) Schreier in LeMars, Iowa. She was raised in Marcus, and received her education from Remsen St. Mary’s Graduating in 1969. She then went on to earn a degree from Nettleton business college. Barb moved to Omaha and worked at Lozier until the late 90s when she moved to Pequot, MN for a short time.

Barb married Darrell ‘Leon’ Harris on October 13, 2001 in Remsen, Iowa. They then made a home in Elephant Butte, New Mexico, where Barb worked as a CNA at the veterans home.

She was a member of Saint Mary’s Church in Remsen and enjoyed time outdoors fishing, taking pictures and warm weather walks. She also loved rides on motorcycles and four wheelers and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her stepchildren, William LeLeo, Kim Schwab and Keri Harris and 13 step grandchildren. Siblings: Patricia (Bruce) Gateley of Cross Lake, MN, Dave Schreier of Marcus, Dan Schreier of Marcus, Tom (Amy) Schreier of Brainerd, MN, Dale (Rhonda) Schreier of Remsen, Sister in law Sheila Letsche along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Darrell in 2023, Parents, Gilbert and Margaret, brother Anthony Schreier, step granddaughter Ashley Micola and step son-in-law James Schwab.
