Bernice M. Goergen

Bernice Goergen, 91 years old,
of Granville, IA,
died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Heartland
Care Center
in Marcus. 
        Funeral service
will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville
with Rev. Terry Roder officiating & Msgr. Kenneth Seifried concelebrating.  Burial will be in the St.
Joseph’s Catholic
Cemetery in Granville.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on
Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012.  There will be a
parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church in Granville.  Services have been
entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
        Bernice was
born March 6, 1921, at rural Alton,
IA, the daughter of George &
Barbara (Engeldinger) Jungers.  She was
raised on a farm near Alton
and attended St. Mary’s Academy through the 8th grade.  She helped her father remodel their home,
then moved to California
and worked there for about 2 years.  She
then returned to Alton
to work.
        On April
25, 1949 she married Leo Goergen at Granville. 
The couple farmed near Granville with their 7 children.  
        She was a member of St Joseph's Church, church
guild and a past officer of the guild, Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters.  She enjoyed bowling, card club, sewing,
crocheting, embroidering and she loved to cook.
        Survivors include; her husband Leo
of Marcus; seven children, Pat Meyer, Steve (Rose) Goergen both of Omaha, NE,
Jim (Laurie) Goergen, Clarice (Larry) Reed both of Minneapolis, MN, Marilyn
(Bob) Shroyer of Homer, AK, Mark (Marge) Goergen of Alton, IA, Dan (Carla)
Goergen of Granville, IA; 13 grandchildren, Spencer, Monica & Terry Shroyer,
Rachel Meyer, Natalie, Jessie, Jackie, Kelsey, Michaela, Jacob, Tailor, Jade
& Sage Goergen, Cassie, Mariah & Kristina Reed;  One brother, Herb (Rose) Jungers of Chicago,
IL;  three sisters-in-law, Patricia
Jungers of Hospers, IA, Eleanor Jungers of Sheldon, IA, Shirley Goergen of
Castle Rock, CO; one brother-in-law, Ray (Ivy) Goergen of Slayton, MN.
        Preceded by: her parents, brothers,
George & Bernard Jungers; two sisters, Florence (Bob) Muth, Adella (Merlin) Niichel;
six brothers-in-law, Joe (Margaret) Goergen, Norbert (Cecil) Goergen, Emil Goergen,
Ernest Goergen, Otto Goergen; one sister-in-law, Ann (Marcel) Klein.
        Casket Bearers will be, Al &
Roger Goergen, Duane Niichel, Mike & Tom Jungers, Joe Hunt.
