Bonnie Jean Collins was born in Marcus, Iowa, to Donald William and Martha G. (Lepper) Simons on October 4, 1951. She was raised on a farm south of Marcus and at a young age began riding horses, which turned into lifelong passion. Bonnie also showed many championship cattle all over the country with her brother, Chuck Simons and her nephew, Bob Leavitt. She attended Marcus Community Schools, graduating in 1969. Following graduation, Bonnie attended business college in Sioux City, Iowa. Her first position was with Farmers State Bank in Marcus where she would remain until her recent retirement.

On August 19, 1973, Bonnie and Richard “Ric” Collins were united in marriage in Marcus. Bonnie’s greatest love in life was doing anything with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play basketball. She loved shopping and showing her giving nature, especially at Christmas. She and Ric enjoyed traveling with friends, attending many basketball games, and raising and riding horses. In her retirement years, she had more time to spend with her sisters, Donna Leavitt and Bev Drefke, and her friends’ coffee group. Two of Bonnies favorite furry companies were her dogs, Maggie and Gracie.

Bonnie will be remembered for her quick wit, wonderful humor, and extreme generosity. She was a loving mother and wife, passionate and present grandmother, and the life of any party.

Grateful to have shared life with her is her husband of 49 years, Ric Collins of Marcus, IA; a daughter and her husband, Stacey and Steve Evans of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Steph and Tanner Adamek of Plymouth, MN, Kelsey and Michael Pauly of Bloomington, MN and Kaden and Kyan Evans of Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren, Carter, Treyvn and Lincoln Adamek of Plymouth, MN; two sisters, Donna Leavitt of Marcus, IA and Bev and Dave Drefke of Cherokee, IA; sister-in-law, Julie Sand of Marcus, IA; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Chuck, Wayne and Marv Simons.
