Curt A. Kohler,58 years old, of Ames, IA, formerly Le Mars and Remsen, IA passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 22ndin Ottertail, MN.
Service will be 10:30 am Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, with Father William McCarthy Officiating. Casual visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 5-7pm at the Funeral Home. Visitation will resume one hour before the service on Thursday. The family requests you dress in your favorite team attire.
Curt Albert Kohler was born on April 8th, 1960 in Le Mars, IA, the son of Herb and Eileen (Gilweit) Kohler. He graduated from Remsen Union in 1978. He farmed the family farm after graduation and then worked at Well’s Dairy for several years.
Curt was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching the birds at his various bird feeders. He had a passion for nature and was instrumental in the donation of prairie land to the Plymouth County Pheasants Forever. He had a love for music and was known for his movie quotes. He enjoyed watching/yelling at his Chicago Cubs, Iowa State Cylcones and anything that involved his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed fishing with his children, grandchildren, his siblings and family and friends at the cabin in Minnesota and he loved to win at cribbage against his son and son in-law.
Grateful to have shared his life are his children, Geoff and Jackie Kohler of Grimes, IA, Sarah and Dustin Tritz of Adel, IA and their children, Kayden, Sophie and Zooey. Sisters Mary Brinkman, Sue Kohler, brothers, Hank (Anne) Kohler, Keith (Peggy) Kohler, all of Ames, IA and Eric (Kim) Kohler of Denison, IA. As well as many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all.He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother in-law Jim Brinkman.
