Debra Faye Hagey, age 74, of Remsen, IA, died on Saturday, March 22, 2025,at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 9:15-10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. www.fischfh.com

Debra was Born May 24, 1951 in Le Mars IA, the daughter of Arnold & Lorraine (Frank) Steichen. She was raised in Remsen Iowa and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Schools, graduating in 1969. She worked at the family owned, Golden Pheasant in Remsen during her youth.

She married the love of her live Steven Hagey of Marcus IA, on July 14th 1973 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. They were married for 24 years. Debra lived in Remsen Iowa her whole life. She was a bartender, waitress at Ruth's cafe, cook, nurse’s aide and caregiver at Happy Siesta Health Care Center. Debra Co-Owned and operated the Highway Tap in Remsen Iowa for many years. Steven passed away on Nov. 20, 1998.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and children, going out to eat, attending Mass, playing pinochle, playing bingo, watching TV with her morning coffee, and numerous trips to Chicago with her family.

Survivors include her two children, Michael Hagey of Remsen, IA and Holly (Paul) Raymond of Dakota Dunes, SD; two grandchildren Sullivan and Grace Raymond; her siblings, Sandra (Dennis) Phillips of Remsen IA, Vickie Peters of Phoenix AZ, Shirley Bass of Remsen IA, Doug (Katie) of Remsen IA, Hank (Sue) Steichen of Remsen IA, Gary (Ann) Steichen of Remsen IA, Dave Steichen of Remsen IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Steven Hagey; parents, Arnold & Lorraine Steichen; sister, Mary Ellen Brady; sister, Nancy McMahon; brother in law, David Peters; father and mother-in-law Robert and Mary Hagey; sister-In-law, Diane Froiland; brother-in-law, Grant Hagey.
