Ella
Mae Miller, 96 of Marcus, IA and formerly of Remsen was called home Sunday, Aug.
23, 2015 at Heartland Care Center
in Marcus, IA.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26,
2015 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Remsen, with
Pastor Pete Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community
Cemetery.
Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015. There
will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the St Paul Evangelical
Lutheran Church
in Remsen. Services entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Mae was born Jan. 28, 1919 at Virgil, SD,
the daughter of Charles & Ella (Miller)
Presuhn. Mae attended country school
near Virgil, SD through the 8th grade. In 1935, Mae moved to Remsen to work and be
near her sister Esther. After moving to
Remsen, she met Marion Miller while she was working as a housekeeper for the
Lang family. They were married March 6,
1940 at the Methodist Parsonage in Marcus.
Marion and Mae moved to Primghar, IA
and began farming. The first of their
four children, Marilyn was born while they lived in Primghar. They moved to a farm near Larrabee, IA
where their second daughter Judy was born.
In 1945 they moved to a farm near Remsen, and had two more children, Jim
and Caryn. In 1973, they moved into
Remsen. Marion passed away Feb. 7, 1988. Mae moved to Heartland Assisted
Living Care
Center in April, 2003, where
she loved to play pinochle and socialize.
Mae was a long time member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran
Church and the ladies
group where she was known as the coffee lady for her egg coffee. She loved spending time with her family and
traveling. She was an avid card player. After moving to town, Mae enjoyed her two
card clubs. Mae always enjoyed spending
time with her family especially being around babies. She loved to watch birds.
She will be remembered by her four children, Marilyn (Marv) Ekeren of Yankton,
SD, Judith (Phil) Letsche of Marcus, James (Sandi) Miller of Wynstone, SD, Caryn
(Mike) Barry of Marcus; 11 grandchildren, Doug (Karen) Ekeren, Shelley (Kevin)
Dwyer, Jodi (Joel) Nooney, Staci Ekeren and fiance John Dibbett, Kirk Letsche,
Eric (Margaret) Letsche, Kim (Dana) Neal, Ryan (Renee) Miller, Megan (James)
Henneberg, Kristen (Luke) Edwards and Nicole (Justin) Cave; 17
great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Elmer (Betty)
Presuhn of Virgil, SD and Lawrence (Betty) Presuhn of Huron, SD.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband Marion, two sisters, Elsie (Orville) Clouser, Esther
(Walter) Groepper, three brothers, Harold (Dorothy) Presuhn, Charlie (Ruth)
Presuhn, Fred (Phyllis) Presuhn, three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Carter and
Sam.
Casket Bearers will be her eleven
grandchildren.
