Eva Sylvia Budden, 94 years old, of Granville, IA, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Granville. Visitation with family present will be 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Eva was born April 27, 1922 at rural Remsen, IA, the daughter of Peter & Kathrine (Weiler) Thill. She was raised in the Remsen area on a farm and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. She then worked at the Orange City Hospital from 1968-1978 as a cook. In 1979 she worked for the Spalding Catholic Schools in the hot lunch program for 18 years.
On May 4, 1943, she married Norbert Budden at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. They farmed in the Granville area and moved to Granville in 1973. Norbert died in May 1982. She became a resident of Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen in Nov. 2012. She moved to Prairie Ridge Care Center a few months back.
Eva was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, church guild and the V.F.W. She enjoyed dancing, Bingo, playing cards and watching TV and she especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her five children, Ronald (Byrlea) Budden of Granville, IA, Donald (Maretta) Budden of Granville, IA, Carolyn (Don) Gergen of Granville, IA, Beverly (Dan) Reinholdt of Cherokee, IA and Lori (Bruce) Fedders of Sioux Center, IA; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: her parents, 5 brothers, Jack, Dominic, Al, Eddie and Vernon Thill, 3 sisters, Mary Kunkel, Josephine Thill and Katherine Blum, 7 brothers-in-law, 14 sisters-in-law.
Casket Bearers will be Craig, Austin and Alex Budden, Darin Gergen, Chad Reinholdt, Jeremy and Aaron Youngers, Casey Fedders.
