Fern Schorg

Fern Schorg, 90 of Remsen, IA died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA.
          Funeral Service will be Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Pastor Dennis Martens officiating.  Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery rural Marcus, IA.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013.  There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until service time at the church Saturday. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
          Fern was born June 24, 1922 at rural Germantown, IA, the daughter of Bruard & Elfreda (Peters) Straub.  Fern was baptized & confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
          On April 27, 1947 she married Lyle Schorg and they moved to a farm southeast of Remsen where they lived for 36 years.  They were blessed with three children, Ronald, Kathleen & Gerald.  Due to Lyle’s health they moved into Remsen in 1983.  Lyle passed away in 1991.  Fern continued to live in their home.
          Fern was a member of Christ Lutheran Church LCMS.  She loved to cook, bake, fish, flowers, gardening, playing pinochle and she also loved the farm.  She loved her children and grandchildren, her church family.
          Survivors include: her children, Ron (Carol) Schorg of Bettendorf, IA, Kathy (Pat) Boever of LeMars, IA, Gerald (Jolene) of Remsen, IA; 12 grandchildren, Alec, Will, Joel, Justin, Ryan & Sarah Schorg, Justin, Jordan, Leah & Lora Reznikov, Scott & Shannon Boever; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Leola (Vernon) Meyer of Paulina, IA; a nephew, David (Jan) Meyer of Granville, IA and their two children Mike & Janelle; nephew-in-law, Paul Tuttle & his son Brian.
          Preceded by, her parents; one niece Laurie Tuttle.
          Casket Bearers will be, her grandsons.
          Honorary Bearers will be: her granddaughters.
