Frances M. Hansen, 90 years old, of Alton, IA, died on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Orange City Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Visitation with family present will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Frances was born May 25, 1926, in rural Alton, IA, the daughter of Nic S. & Margaret (Klein) Hansen. She was raised in the Alton area and received her education at St. Mary’s Academy in Alton from which she graduated in 1943. She then attended business school in Omaha, NE. She was employed at Sioux Abstract Company from 1946 until 1951 and then from 1951 to 1953 at the Sioux County Auditors Office both in Orange City, Ia. In August of 1954, she moved to Sioux City, IA, where she was employed as a business manager at Sioux City Urological Associates Professional Corporation until Oct. 1986, when she retired and moved back to Alton. During her tenure there she obtained her certification as a Certified Medical Assistant – Administrative in June, 1972, and Certified Medical Transcriptionist in June 1983. From 1988 to 1989 she was employed part time at the Sioux Center Medical Clinic in Sioux Center, IA.
Frances was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the church guild, St. Mary’s Rosary Society, the past Catholic Daughters of America of Remsen, IA, American Association of Medical Assistants, life member since 1988 of Iowa Association of Medical Assistants, a charter member since 1955 of the Siouxland Chapter of Medical Assistants, American Association for Medical Transcriptionists and the Luxembourg Society of Northwest Iowa. She enjoyed china painting and knitting.
Survivors include, one brother, Nicholas (Flora) Hansen of Alton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by, her parents, three sisters, Cordelia in infancy, Luella (Leo) Henrich, Florence Hansen, four brothers, Joseph (Judith) Hansen, Alfred (Iola) Hansen, Everist (Mary) Hansen and Sylvester (Dolores) Hansen.
Casket bearers will be Nathan Hansen, Simon Hansen, Jason Pyle, Brent Pyle, Dusty Pick and Chris Schlesser.
