Mary 'Pat' Patricia Helget, 85, of Cleghorn, Iowa passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa with Father Bill McCarthy, celebrating. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Earnest - Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus with family present from 5-7 pm and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mary was born on December 12, 1933, in Springfield, MN to George & Frieda (Haas) Wersal. She married Kenneth Joseph Helget on April 7, 1953 in Springfield, MN. Mary worked as an embroidery inspector at K-Products. She enjoyed playing cards, loved looking at the lake, cooking, tending her flowers, Elvis and her Rocky Mountain Chocolates. Mary was devout in her faith and very dedicated to her church. She loved traveling, especially to Colorado, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, even if that meant harassing them tirelessly. Mary was always on the go and not one to leave the party early.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Jim (Nancy MacLaughlin) Helget, Julie (Mike) Decker, Shelly (John) Petrucka, Tim (Diane) Helget, Missy (Bill Raveling) Thompson, Kay Ernzen, and Jon Helget; grandchildren, Adam Helget, Justin Helget, Alesha Gay, April Blue, Mitch Decker, Paige Buczek, Eric Petrucka, Luke Helget, Kayla McKinney, Jesse Thompson, Crystal Thompson, Kesha Montoya, Dameon Ernzen, Caleb Ernzen, Gracyn Helget, and Griffin Helget; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Annette ‘Nettie’ Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Arlene Stage, Deloris Roiger, Marcella Sierens; and brothers, Pete, Robert, Leo, George Jr., Lenis, and Clement.
