James Henneberg

November 17, 1971 — January 23, 2020

James Henneberg, 48, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa. Rev. Alan Cummins and Capt. Howard Avery will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Marcus Amherst Cemetery, Marcus, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus, Iowa. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

James Douglas Henneberg was born on November 17, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Bruce and Linda (Potts0 Henneberg. He was raised in Moline, Illinois where he graduated from high school. James enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas in South Korea, Germany and Iraq. He attained the rank of Sgt. prior to earning an Honorable Discharge after 14 years of service. He continued his education with the University of Phoenix where he obtained an associate’s degree in psychology. He was currently working on a bachelor’s degree.

James and Megan Barry were united in marriage on December 11, 2010 at Clarksville, Tennessee. Family was very important to James and he was a devoted and loving husband. He enjoyed working for Uber for the past several years and met new people from all over. He loved spending holidays with them and also went “all out” for Halloween. James also enjoyed working on cars, computer gaming, anything techie and his cats.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Megan Henneberg of Clarksville, TN; his mother and step-father, Linda and Harold Merschman of Daphne, AL; siblings, Eric (Mehrnaz) Merschman of Huntsville, AL, Chad (Keri) Meschman and their children of Hamilton, AL, Sherry Von Engel; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Caryn and Mike Barry of Marcus, IA; sisters-in-law, Kristen (Luke) Edwards and their children of Pierre, SD and Nicole (Justin) Cave and their son of Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Terry Moss.
