Keith N. Housken, 83, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. Pastor Donna Smith will officiate. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday.
Keith Norman Housken was born on March 19, 1938, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Mary “Maudie” (Fetrow) Housken. He graduated from Lehigh (Iowa) High School in 1956 and continued his education at Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He later attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.
On April 9, 1960, Keith and Annette Sandstrom were united in marriage at Burnside, Iowa. They lived in various locations while Keith was a salesman for Walnut Grove Feeds. Later, he was a representative for Lutheran Brotherhood. Keith and Annette settled in Marcus, Iowa and they both took positions with Wells Dairy in Le Mars.
Keith was a lover of music. He sang in the choir in high school and would build his own stereo in later years. He also enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and gardening.
Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 61 years, Annette Housken of Marcus, IA; his children, Mark Housken, Julie (Keith) Yarrow and Paul (Brenda) Housken all of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Jennie Yarrow of Sioux Falls, SD, Anna (Ryan) Paulson of North Liberty, IA, Amanda (Fiance Brendon Traphagen) Housken of Sioux Falls, SD and Christopher Housken of Sioux Falls, SD; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and his wife, Duane and Darlene “Bucky” Housken.
