James “Jim” Krier, 76 of Remsen, IA passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, IA.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Fr. Terry Roder officiating, Fr. Timothy Pick, Fr. Thomas Hart concelebrating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA.  Visitation with family present will be 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, there will be a parish rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.  Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument.  Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

Jim was born on July 18th, 1946 in Le Mars, IA the son of Ray and Vi (Konz) Krier.  He was raised on a farm southeast of Remsen and attended St Mary’s Catholic School, graduating in 1964.

On November 27th, 1971 he married Karen Ruba and they made their home on a farm southeast of Remsen. Where they raised their family along with crops and livestock and remained involved his entire life, and also ran a tractor repair shop on the farm.

Jim was a member of the St Mary’s Catholic Church, Sportsman Club of Remsen. He also served 9 years on the St Mary’s High School Board.

Jim’s love for all things farming and Case IH was great, but he enjoyed nothing more than having his grandchild coming over & spending the night. He also really enjoyed playing pinochle.

Survivors include his wife Karen of 51 years; four children, Tom (Jennifer) Krier of Le Mars, IA, Dan (Sara) Krier of Remsen, IA, Julie (Kirk) Kneip of Le Mars, IA, Steve Krier of Remsen, IA; six grandchildren, Sidney, RJ, and Colt Krier, Kaleb, Ella, and Lydia Kneip; six brothers and sister, Jerry (Sandy) Krier of Remsen, IA, Nancy (Dick) Augustine of Dakota Dunes, SD, Jan (Stan) Scheitler, Connie (Bob) Plathe, Bev (Tom) Bacan, Ron (Rose) Krier all of Remsen, IA; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray & Vi Krier; his in-laws, Irvin and Ethel Ruba, one nephew Adam Krier; one brother in-law Jim Wurth.

Casket bearers will be Luke Krier, Troy Scheitler, Brian Augustine, Ryan Schnoes, Mason Boyle, Tony Wurth, Brett Bacan and Dave Tentinger.

Honorary Bearers will be Dan and Julia Schroeder.
