JoAnn Kathleen Meyer, 89, of Remsen, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, surrounded by her family at the Happy Siesta Health Care center in Remsen.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, with the Pastor Alan Cummins officiating. Burial will be in Remsen Community Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7p Tuesday, at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. The visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
JoAnn was born on August 9, 1929 to Adolph and Louise (Trafford) Haack in LeMars, Iowa. She was raised in Remsen and received her education at Remsen Public School, graduating in 1947.
JoAnn married Robert Raymond Meyer on August 20, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen. She was employed at West Telephone Company andThe Phillip Parriott Law Office for most of her career.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Remsen. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and decorating. She volunteered at various organizations including St. Paul’s church, and Happy Siesta Health Care Center.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert R. Meyer of Remsen, her children Robert K. (Janice) Meyer of Greenville, SC., Kevin (Brenda) Meyer of Denver, CO., her grandchildren, Robert A. (Sloane) Meyer, Amy (Eric) Hensley, Jared Meyer and Dillon Meyer, and her sister, Judith Maass of Paulina, IA; one niece, Kendall Carter.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law, Wayne Maass and Milton (Margaret) Meyer, and two nephews, Jeffrey Lewis and Michael Meyer.
Casket bearers will be, Steve Pick, Simon Pick, Arlie Pick, Robert A. Meyer and Eric Hensley.
