Peter Lauters

Peter R. Lauters, 86, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at his home near Marcus. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Bill McCarthy will celebrate Mass. Peter’s family would like to invite friends to join them for the committal service at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus.
Peter Robert Lauters was born on December 3, 1934 in rural Remsen, Iowa, the son of Raymond Vincent and Mary Elizabeth (Balster) Lauters. He graduated in 1952 from Holy Name High School in Marcus, Iowa. Then he proudly served in the United States Army. Peter served during the Korean War from November 16, 1954 to November 15, 1956 when he earned his Honorable Discharge. After the war, Peter returned home to farm.
On October 26, 1957, Peter and Rose Marie Feese were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. They made their home on the farm where they raised their family. Peter never retired from the farming that he loved.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. He enjoyed fishing, trips to Canada, old western movies, playing cards and wintering in Florida.
Grateful to have shared his life, is his wife of 62 years, Rose of Marcus, Iowa; his children and their spouses, Deb and Alex Paul of Sweet Home, OR, Ronald Lauters and fiancé (Cindy) of Dexter, MO, Rick and Tina Lauters of Lennox, SD, Diane and Norm Wernimont of Auburn, IA; a daughter-in-law, Michele (Lauters) and Tim Van Wyhe of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Angela (Paul) Spratt, Amy (Paul) Maynard, T.J. Paul, Kaitlin (Lauters) Billingsby, Tyler Lauters, Erin (Lauters) Probst, Preston Lauters, Madison Lauters, Jonathan Lauters , Lindsey (Lauters) Tonsfeldt, Jaclyn Wernimont, Jamie Wernimont and Joel Wernimont; sister, Audrey (Tony) Delperdang of Remsen, IA and Marlene Boyle of Danbury, IA; brothers, Doug (Heidi) Lauters of Marcus, IA, Danny (LuAnne) Lauters of Gardner, IA and Larry (Sue) Lauters of Runnels, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; a sister, Jeannine (Carl) Dreckman; a brother, Bob (Barb) Lauters; sister-in-law, Candice Lauters; and a brother-in-law, Jim Boyle.
