Louise Auchstetter, age 85, of Hospers, IA passed away peacefully at her home in Hospers on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, IA, with Fr. Daniel Greving officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 4-6:30 p.m., there will be a Rosary and Vigil Prayer Service at 5 p.m. all at the church in Hospers. Visitation will resume from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. www.fischfh.com

Louise was born Nov. 8, 1939 at Hospers, IA the daughter of Clem and Edna (Healy) Freking. She was raised at Hospers and received her education from St Anthony grade school in Hospers, IA and St Mary High School in Alton, IA, graduating in 1957. She attended Briar Cliff for 1 year. She then began working at Security State Bank in Sheldon, IA.

On April 8, 1961 she married James Auchstetter at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, IA. The couple made their home in Hospers where they raised 4 daughters. In later years, she worked at AEA 4 as a preschool aide and driver. She also volunteered at St. Anthony Grade School.She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, Bible Study Group and St Anthony Guild. Louise enjoyed Monday morning coffee group, reading, traveling, playing piano and attending grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed traveling with Jim, his siblings and their spouses all over the world. She also enjoyed annual birthday trips with her daughters for many years.

Survivors include her four daughters, Jeanne (Tom) Jungers of Hospers, IA, Julie (Steve) Hunt of Granville, IA, Nancy Ellison (Tim Seep) of Vermillion, SD, Amy (Mike) Matuska of Zumbrota, MN; 15 grandchildren, Jessica Jungers, Alex and Amy Jungers, Lauren and Joe Kelling, Emily and Mike Bakker, Megan and Sean Moore, Anthony Hunt and Rob Humble, Anna and Jacob Kooiman, Jaime Hunt, Ellen Hunt, Mitchell and Jackie Ellison, Timothy Ellison and fiancée Madeline Jenkins, Erin Seep, Jackie and Jack Purvis, Tara Matuska, and Joel Matuska; 14 great-grandchildren with 1 more great-grandchild on the way; sister-in-law, Karen Freking of Hospers IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim on April 4, 2019; her siblings, Sister Edwardine Freking OSF, Catherine (Bernie) Portz, Sister Angeline Freking OSF, Marie (Oscar) Klein, Leo Freking; In-laws, Marvin (Marlys) Auchstetter, Lorraine (Vincent) Becker, Marcene (Fran) Moran.

Casket bearers will be Alex Jungers, Anthony Hunt, Mitchell Ellison, Timothy Ellison, Joel Matuska, Steve Auchstetter.
