Lyle Heidesch, age 93, of Remsen died on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Happy Siesta Health Care in Remsen, IA.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday, there will be a C.O.F./K of C rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, www.fischfh.com
Lyle Frederick Heidesch was born December 5, 1930, in Le Mars, IA, the son of Fred and Armella (Galles) Heidesch. The family moved soon after to a farm southeast of Remsen where he attended both country and St. Mary's schools, graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1949.
Lyle married Ethel Minten on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, IA. They resided on a farm northeast of Remsen where they raised their family. Lyle spent his working years farming and working construction. They moved to Remsen in 1988.
In his spare-time he enjoyed woodworking and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Lyle was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Sky Hawks Flying Club, Luxembourg Heritage Society of NW Iowa and Luxembourg Society of Iowa.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ethel of Remsen; his children, Ken (Ann) Heidesch of Granville, IA, Pete (Sharon) Heidesch of Remsen, IA, Anne (Dennis) Von Arb of Alton, IA, Nancy Hyland of Glenwood, IA, Bob( Vicky) Heidesch of Remsen, IA, Lee (Cheryl) Heidesch of Papillion, NE, Carl Heidesch of Dubuque, IA; 20 grandchildre; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters; Phyllis Ungs, Holly Nolan, Mary Grieve, Rosie (Gary) Grage; In-laws, Marvin (Doris) Minten, Lloyd Minten, Harold (Martha) Minten, Edith Staab, Helen (Fred) Shockey, Carol (Jim) Schemmel, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, brothers Louis, in infancy, and Bill (Shirley), granddaughter Lindsay Heidesch, in-laws: Joe Minten, Paul (Rita) Minten, Esther (James) MacClure, Rosemary (Bill) O'Gara, Jim Nolan, Vernon Staab, John Ungs, and Gordon Grieve.
Casket bearers will be his grandchildren.
