Marian A. Kinney

August 15, 1920 — October 1, 2009

Marian A. Kinney, 89 years old, of Alton, IA, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA. 
            Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Paul Eisele and Rev. James Tigges officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Alton.  Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton, IA.
            Casketbearers will be John, Larry Jim & Chris Von Arb, Matt Miranda, Travis & Zac Kinney.  Honorary Bearers will be Patti Von Arb-Wiedman, Cathy Van Es, Stephanie Kobes, Ashley Kinney-Bortscheller, Abbey, Amanda & Megan Kinney, Jessica & Whitney Miranda.
            Marian was born Aug. 15, 1920, the daughter of Mathew & Anna (Mousel) Konz.  She was raised and educated in the Alton area.  On Oct. 3, 1939 she married Robert Kinney at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton.  The couple farmed near Alton until 1947 when they moved to near Sheldon and farmed until 1957 when they moved back to farm near Alton.  Robert passed away Oct. 23, 1979.  Marian maintained the farm for two more years then retired on the farm.  She entered the Happy Siesta Health Care Center on Sept. 15, 2008.
    Marian was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Alton,  St. Mary Rosary Society & St. Mary Honorary Guild.
    Survivors include; Three sons, Robert Kinney Jr. & his wife Sherry of Alton, Mike Kinney & his wife Jeannette of LeMars, IA, Jerry Kinney of Alton, IA; Two daughters, Kay Von Arb & her husband Orville, Donna Miranda & her husband Ernesto all of Alton.  16)Grandchildren; 13)Great-grandchildren; 1)Step great-grandchild; 2)Step Great-great-grandchildren; Two sisters, Verena Pottebaum of Alton, Rose Wolf of Sioux City, IA; One sister-in-law, Ester Konz of Alton; One brother-in-law, Ivo Kinney & his wife Mary of Bella Vista, AR.
    Preceded by: One daughter, Darlene Kobes & her husband Ed; Four brothers, Magnus Konz & his wife Honey, Leonard Konz, Lester Konz & LeRoy Konz; One sister, Loretta Klein & her husband Martin; Three brothers-in-law, Joe Kinney & his wife Mildred, James Kinney & his wife Mae, Bernard Kinney; Four sisters-in-law, Magdalen Cheboski & her husband Ray, Alberta Niehus & her husband Eve, Viola Hansen & her husband Albert & Josephine Kinney.
