Marina Ecker, 99 years old, of Granville, IA, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Marina was born Sept. 19, 1912, at rural Granville, IA, the daughter of John & Catherine (Rolling) Beckmann. She was raised on a farm near Granville. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School graduating on June 8, 1927.
On Jan. 14, 1946 she married William Ecker at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. The couple farmed near Granville until 1970 when they retired on the farm, and then moved into Granville in 1972. William died June 1, 1980.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Church Guild.
Survivors include one son, Alvin Ecker & his wife Monyane of Spencer, IA; one daughter, Wilma Pullen & her husband Duncan of Frederecksburg, VA; four grandchildren & five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: her parents, five brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, Frank, Elmer & Clarence Beckmann,three sisters, Henrietta Beckmann, Nelli Stoll & Frances Beckmann.
