Marion M. Beelner, 84, of Remsen, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy and Deacon Rick Roder officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Marion was born Aug. 5, 1928 in Remsen, IA, the daughter of Sylvester and Ann (Eischen) Nothem. She was raised and educated in the Remsen. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1946. She then attended Briar Cliff University. She then was employed at Taylor and Nichols C.P.A. in Sioux City, and later was employed at Schaaf’s Hardware in Remsen.
On Jan. 4, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard Beelner. They lived on a farm two miles west of Remsen for 34 years and moved into Remsen in Dec. 1982. Richard died Dec. 1, 1998.
Marion was a member of St. Mary’s Church & church guild. Past member of Catholic Daughter of America.
Survivors include, her seven children, Michael Beelner of Remsen, David Beelner of Spencer, IA, Patrick (Nora) Beelner of Boulder, CO, Jeffrey Beelner of LeMars, IA, Richard Beelner Jr. of Remsen, Ann Marie Beelner of Boulder, CO, and Daniel Beelner of Remsen; Eleven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Shirley Berendes of Castle Rock, CO.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter-in-law, Audrey Beelner, one granddaughter, Danielle Beelner.
Casket bearers will be her sons.
