Mark Kellen, age 64 of Granville, IA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 at his farm near Granville.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA, with Father Daniel Greving officiating and Deacon Dan Goebel assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 4-6 p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at the church, masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Visitation will resume 1 hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA. Mark was born Dec. 25, 1956 at Le Mars, IA, to Robert and Glenis (Kellen) Kellen. He was raised on a farm near Granville and received his education at Spalding Catholic School, graduating in 1975. After high school he worked for Farmers Co-Op and Ahlers Trucking. He then started farming with his brother Keith and also worked for Paulsen Trucking.
Mark was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, Catholic Order of Foresters, former member of the Granville Fire Department and Granville Improvement Club. He enjoyed farming, golfing and was an avid NASCAR Fan. He was known as the family’s baby whisperer where he could put fussy babies to sleep instantly on his chest.
Survivors include his siblings, Karen Kellen of Tucson, AZ, Steve (Sharon) Kellen of Olathe, KS, Gary (Candy) Kellen of Slayton, MN, Connie (Steve) Swalve of Oyens, IA, Carla (Michael) Ellis of Tucson, AZ, Keith (Joyce) Kellen of Alton, IA, Randy (Peg) Kellen of Oyens, IA, Kent (Audrey) Kellen of Cherokee, IA and Kyle Kellen of Le Mars, IA; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Glenis Kellen.
