Mark was born May 1st, 1959 in Akron, Iowa, to Glenn and Marge (Thompson) Molzen. He received his education in Akron, graduating from Akron High School in 1977. He began his working life as a farm laborer for Harold Held outside of Hinton, IA. He then worked for the Le Mars Sentinel before starting his career of over four decades at Fareway in Le Mars in 1980, where he worked until his death.
Mark was married to Danelle Hoey on Sept. 1, 1979 at the United Methodist Church in Le Mars. The couple welcomed three children: Haley, Ashley, and Ryan. They made their home in Le Mars until moving to an acreage between Le Mars and Akron.
After their marriage ended, Mark moved to the family farm in rural Akron in 2010. That same year, he began dating Cindy Boever; they were united in marriage April 22nd, 2020 in Akron.
Mark loved the simple things, the little things, in life: bluesy music, a well-made sandwich, good whiskey, and green peas. He was sentimental, and liked traditions, old ways, and antiques. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, trapping - any reason to be outside. And for someone who could be so darned crotchety, he really enjoyed being with people. A lot of those people will miss him dearly.
Mark leaves behind his wife, Cindy of Akron, IA; one sister, Faye (Tracy) Hirt of Platte, SD; two daughters, a son, and three step-daughters: Haley Molzen (Caley Waysman) of Vermillion, SD; Ashley Molzen of Des Moines, IA; Ryan Molzen (Darci) of Remsen, IA; Blair Lansink (Justin) of Orange City, IA; Hayley Miner (Tim) of St. Joseph, MO; Andie Dole (Will) of Remsen, IA. He also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren: Maeve, Norah, Thea, and Atlas Waysman; Kai and Tae Molzen; Evan and Elli Molzen; Wallace, Marin, and Finley Miner; Loralai, Owen, Calvin, and Juna Dole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Marge; and by his uncles, Lloyd Molzen and Lyle Thompson.
