Matthew DeHaan, 26 years old, of Le Mars, IA passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at Floyd Valley Health Care in Le Mars, IA.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, at All Saints Parish - St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with Father Bruce Lawler officiating. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, there will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Church in Le Mars. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Matthew was born on May 3, 1993, the son of Doug and Renee (Gollhofer) DeHaan at Sioux City, IA. He was raised in LeMars and received his education from Gehlen Catholic School, graduating in 2012. He then worked in the Deli at Wal-Mart for 2 years then began working for Well’s Enterprises.
His strength, courage, positive attitude and faith during his illness were amazing beyond words. He was so proud to be a Godfather for the first time to Amelia Sejnoha.
He was a member of All Saints Parish - St. James Catholic Church in LeMars. He enjoyed camping, campfires, videogaming, hanging out with his friends, watching movies and his Denver Broncos.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Doug & Renee of LeMars; his paternal grandmother, Therese DeHaan of Hawarden, IA; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceded in death by, his maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Gollhofer, paternal grandfather, Donald DeHaan, aunt, Tammy Kunze and his beloved dog, Rudy.
Casket Bearers will be Kellen Hackett, Jesse Boyer, Jared Boyer, Patrick Gollhofer, Codey Walker, Megz Hegdahl, Austin Sejnoha and Wesley Smart.
