Earl McIntire, 80, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Happy Siesta in Remsen, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus, Iowa. Pastor Ron Rice will be officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Earnest-Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Tuesday. Earl McIntire was born on February 13, 1932 in Marcus, Iowa, the son of Clair and Mildred (Goodburn) McIntire. Mildred passed away when Earl was ten years old, and his father later married Jessie Butler. In March of 1949, Earl married Gladys Broblick and to this union five children were born. In February 1972, Earl married Barbara Snell and together they had one son. Earl was a farmer in the Marcus area early on in his life and later worked for Wells Blue Bunny in transportation for 25 years. Earl enjoyed bowling league, hunting, gardening, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Earl will be lovingly remembered by his wife Barb of Marcus, IA; daughter Diane (Edward) Plante of Lakewood, CO; daughter, Nancy (Marlin) Ellis of Spirit Lake, IA; son, Doug (Ginny) McIntire of Milford, IA; son, David (Sandy) McIntire of Milford, IA; daughter, Beverly (Dan) Jorns of Keller, TX; son, Brian (Stacey) McIntire of Rock Rapids, IA; 11 grandchildren: Christine, Mindi, Shannon, Kent, Nikki, Sherri, Tammy, Whitney, Lindsey, Colby, and Kaylee; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Glenda) McIntire of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Merlyn Cronin of Marcus, IA, Norma Egger of Webster City, IA, and Eleanor Beaton of Phoenix, AZ; step-sister Katheryn Nordle of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-laws, Marj McIntire of Marcus, IA, Jean McIntire of Warren, OH, and Peg McIntire of Botavia, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister; five brother-in-laws, and one sister-in-law.
