Mildred Honkomp

Mildred Honkomp, 95 years old, of Sioux City & formerly of Granville, IA, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, IA. 
    Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville, with Rev. Richard Ball officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Granville.  Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen, IA.
    Mildred was born March 29, 1914, at rural Granville, IA, the daughter of Bernard & Elizabeth (Bohnenkamp) Bueltel.  Mildred was raised in the Granville area and received her education at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Granville.  She then did domestic work in the Granville area.
    On Feb. 17, 1941she married Vincent Honkomp at Granville.  They made their home near Adrian, MN where they farmed from 1941 until 1945 when they moved to near Granville and farmed until retiring and moving into Granville in Nov. 1977.  Vincent died Feb. 2, 1985.  In May 2000 Mildred moved to Sioux City, IA.
    Mildred was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville & church guild.
    Survivors include; Two daughters, Juliann Delperdang & her husband Larry, Marjean Dattolico & her husband Sebastian all of Sioux City, IA;  8) Grandchildren; 17) Great-grandchildren; 1) Son –in-law, Don Dykstra of Sanborn, IA; 1) Sister-in-law, Mrs. Edmund (Lucille) Bueltel of Sioux City, IA.
    Preceded by: her parents, 1) Daughter, Sharene Dykstra; 8) Sisters, Frances, Regina, Cordula & Emma Bueltel, Marie Baker, Armella Casey, Esther Bueltel (Sister Lucina O.S.F.), Helen Novy; 3) Brothers, Emil, Alphonse & Edmund Bueltel. 
    Casket Bearers will be, Vincent Dattolico, Brad Delperdang, Tara Mutchler, Gina Plathe, Donna Kock, Dawn Schwartz.
