Roger Nelson

Roger E. Nelson, 81, went to his heavenly home Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus after a short illness. Funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. Rev. Kevin Roop will officiate. Burial will follow at Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Nelson’s Home in Marcus. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church on Saturday prior to the funeral service.

Roger Edward Nelson was born in Le Mars, Iowa on December 7, 1934 to Roy and Florence (Meyer) Nelson. All is recorded in the Book of Life to be opened and read in heaven on the resurrection day, my prayer is that you are there.

Roger was blessed with a great family and many, many friends. He will be looking forward to seeing you all on resurrection day! He and Nancy were blessed with four children, Brian, Robin, Bobbi, and Samuel.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy; children Brian (Paula) Nelson and Bobbi (Greg) Taylor; grandchildren Nathaniel (Krista) Nelson, Benjamin (Alyssa) Nelson, Charlie Anne Nelson, Jacob (Sarah) Taylor, Emily (Alan) Olson, and Samantha Taylor; great grandchildren Gavin Nelson, twins, Natalie and Cooper Nelson, triplets Addison, Brady, and Colin Olson and Lincoln Olson; as well as one sister, Lin Nelson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Florence Nelson; an infant daughter Robin Claudia Nelson; son Samuel David Nelson and one brother David Nelson.
