Linda Patterson

Linda Sue (Dunn) Patterson, 76, of Marcus, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus, Iowa. Rev. Kevin Roop of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Linda Sue Dunn was born on November 12, 1946, in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil and Elvera (Smith) Dunn. She weighed three pounds and started her life struggling to survive. She was raised in Marcus and was Baptized and Confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church. Linda graduated from Marcus High School in 1964.

After being married for a brief time, Linda was involved in a serious car accident. She spent three months in a coma and later months of rehabilitation learning to walk, talk and write. After eleven months, she was released from rehab and resided with her parents in Marcus. Once her parents passed, she was able to live alone at home until 2016 with the help of relatives and neighbors. Health issues then required her to move to the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.

Linda enjoyed playing Scrabble, crossword puzzles and other word games. Knitting was another hobby. She made several afghans she gifted to others. Each was a different pattern and she continued to challenge herself with more complex patterns.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sister and her husband, Vicki and Bob Webber of Port Charlotte, FL; an uncle, Ab Smith of Marcus, IA; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Elvera Dunn.
