Marcus, Iowa – Carroll L. Peterson, 72, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Marcus and Kingsley, Iowa passed away on Monday July 16, 2012 in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Wel-Life, 801 N. Adams in Papillion, Nebraska under the direction of the Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler Funeral Home in Omaha, Nebraska. Additional services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Earnest-Johnson Funeral Home, 206 East Pine in Marcus, IA. Interment will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, rural Marcus, Iowa.
Carroll Lambert Peterson was born on January 13, 1940 in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Carl and Pearl (Brownmiller) Peterson. He was raised in Kingsley and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1958. He served as President of the FFA Chapter. Following his education, Carroll farmed for a brief time. An illness forced him to sell the farm operation and he began his career in sales. He and his family lived in the Lawton and Bronson, Iowa area throughout the years. For the last four years, Carroll lived near his daughter Crystal in Papillion, Nebraska.
Carroll was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed following the Kansas City Chiefs football team and NASCAR. Carroll was an accomplished bowler and bowled with many teams and leagues throughout the years. He bowled three perfect games. He had a love for horses and participated in rodeo events.
Carroll will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Duane Peterson (Rhonda) of Ft. Collins, CO and Daniel Peterson (Belinda) of Wichita, KS; daughters, Crystal Wray (Mark) of Papillion, NE and Sandy Pickens (Perry) of Sioux City, IA; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Peterson of Mayer, AZ and David Peterson of Kansas; brother-in-law, Gene Ferris (Margaret Steward) of Washta, IA; uncle, Harlan Brownmiller (Barb) of Spencer, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pearl Peterson; infant brother, Duane; and a sister, Dorothy Ferris.
