Phyllis Wolf, 93 of Remsen, IA passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, there will be a parish rosary and a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Phyllis Pletschette was born May 11, 1928, in LeMars, IA the daughter of Martin and Ellen (Nellie) Pletschette in Oyens, Iowa. She was raised in Plymouth County and graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s High School in 1946. She went on to receive her Teaching Certificate from Westmar College. She then taught country school for a couple years.
She married Lloyd Wolf, Feb 15, 1950 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. The couple farmed and fed cattle south of Remsen for 43 years before retiring and moving into Remsen in 1993. Lloyd passed away Nov. 25, 2015. In August of 2019 she moved into Bavarian Meadows in Remsen then to Happy Siesta Health Care Center in May 2021.
Phyllis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing cards in multiple card clubs, traveling and bowling. She also loved visiting her children and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include, her children, David (Santina) Wolf of Frederick, MD, Bill (Diana) Wolf of Remsen, Kathryn Wolf and Hermann Wiemer of Ithaca, NY, Jane (Paul) Bunkers of Santa Ana, CA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters Mary Ellen Bumann of Cherokee, IA, Jean (Chuck) Higgins of Louisville, TX; one brother, Emmett (Karen) Pletschette of Copperopolis, CA.
Preceded by, her parents, her husband Lloyd, and one grandson, Louis Bunkers.
