Marvin Francis Pick was born January 24, 1931, to Andrew and Mary (Poeckes) Pick. He was raised on a farm near Remsen and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduating in 1948. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Heuertz in 1951 and farmed near Remsen with their 6 children until 1968. The family moved to Marcus after purchasing a farm north of town. Marvin was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf, bowling, riding his bike (which included a few days on RAGBRAI), woodworking and traveling with Donna to visit her family.
