Etta Prescott, 85, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Earnest – Jonson Funeral Home in Marcus, Iowa. Father Timothy Pick will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday.
Etta LaVonne Prescott was born on August 27, 1935 in Lawton, Iowa, the daughter of Les and Bertha (Mosse) Watkins. She attended grade school and later attended junior high and high school in Sioux City, Iowa.
On May 2, 1951, Etta and Charles Daniel Prescott were united in marriage at South Sioux City, Nebraska. They made their home in Cherokee, Iowa for a few years before returning to Sioux City. After their children were born, the family lived briefly in California and then back to Cherokee. Etta worked at Jessie’s Fine Meats in Cherokee. They moved to Marcus and Etta began working at a café and the variety store. She would later drive a school bus for Marcus Schools for several years. Her last occupation was as a Walmart greeter where she enjoyed dressing up for various holidays.
Etta was an accomplished seamstress and sewed wedding dresses and all types of clothing. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed gardening and raising house plants. Etta was also very artistic and crafted with her children and grandchildren.
Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Kim (Mike) Pedersen of Little Rock, IA, Rod (Lynn) Prescott of Wichita Falls, TX and Ken Prescott of Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Darlene (Robert) Diamond of Opp, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Bob Watkins; son, Ronald and his wife, Barbara.
