Ronald Reuter

Marcus, Iowa - Ronald Reuter, 77, of Marcus passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa. The Very Reverend Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Holy Name Catholic Church. A Rosary Service will begin at 4:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present from 4-7 p.m. to greet friends. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.
Ronald Francis Reuter was born on January 5, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Roger "Hap" and Dorothy (Thiel) Reuter. Ron's mother passed when he was three. Hap then married Ione Passion who raised Ron. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Le Mars, graduating in 1953. After high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Army on February 24, 1954 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his Honorable Discharge on December 14, 1955, Ron returned to the Le Mars area.
On April 18, 1956, Ron and Meredith Nuebel were united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. They made their home on a farm near Marcus. Together they farmed and raised their family. Ron and Meredith moved to Marcus in 1999 but Ron continued to assist his family with the farm operation.
Ron was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa where he ushered and participated in the Knights of Columbus. He bowled with "The Red Jackets" team for many years and also enjoyed golfing. Ron was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Minnesota Twins. He could often be found driving slowly, whistling and backing up traffic.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Meredith of Marcus, IA; his son Gary and Pat Reuter of Remsen, IA, son, Jay and Carol Reuter, son-in-law, Rodney and Beth Ebert, son, Allan and Darcy Reuter, a daughter, Rhonda and Dale Schreier all of Marcus, IA; 13 grandchildren, Dawn and Ryan Stodola, Mike and Crystal Reuter, Nick and Colleen Reuter, Tonya Reuter, Chris Reuter and fiancé Kayla Schuck, Ashley Reuter, Jamie Reuter, Eric Ebert, Jackie Ebert, Zach Reuter, Molly Reuter, Kelli and Dan Hueser, Brad Schreier; great-grandchildren, Shawn and Kaitlyn Reuter, Cael Stodola, Alexis (Reuter) Kuboushuk, Taelyn Reuter, Brayden Olsen, Keegan Schreier and Brady Hueser; sister-in-law, Theresa Reuter of Le Mars, IA; brothers and sisters, Cathy and Keith Popp of Le Mars, IA, Terry and Janeen Reuter of Le Mars, IA, Steve and Elizabeth Reuter of Minneapolis, MN, Alice and Glen Ruhland of Le Mars, IA, Ruth Padget of Oskaloosa, IA, Dave and Sandy Reuter of Le Mars, IA and Doug and Monica Reuter of Le Mars, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Renee Ebert on November 24, 2006; and brothers Robert and Jim.
