Yvonne Schnoes

October 6, 1935 — April 19, 2021

Yvonne C. Schnoes, 85, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Private family services will be held at a later date at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus with burial to follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Father Bill McCarthy will celebrate Mass.

Yvonne Claire Schnoes was born on October 6, 1935 in Craig, Nebraska, the daughter of Delno and Gertrude (Evers) Rouse. She attended Waterbury Community Schools, graduating in 1953. Following school Yvonne worked at Woolworth’s in Sioux City, Iowa.

On August 3, 1957, Yvonne and Leonard Schnoes were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa. They made their home in Marcus and Yvonne took care of the home.

Yvonne was a longtime member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading westerns and computer games. In earlier years, she and Leonard liked to square dance. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies and a batch was usually whipped up when guests arrived.

She is survived by her children, Lori Schnoes of Marcus, IA, Leslie Ferris of Lawton, IA, David (Joni) Schnoes of West Des Moines, IA, Karla (Jon) Hanson of Grimes, IA, Sarah (Rod) Rassel of Sioux City, IA and Aaron (Angie) Schnoes of Oyens, IA; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kristin (Ted) Mc Donald of South Sioux City, NE.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; a granddaughter, Mary Francis; and a brother Dean Rouse.
