Steven William Paulsen, age 81, of Granville, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville with Father Dan Greving officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Granville Veterans. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 Wednesday. There will be a rosary and vigil prayer service, at 5 p.m., all at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. Steven was born July 16, 1943 at Le Mars, IA the son of Wilken & Florence (Roethler) Paulsen. He was raised near Granville and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. On July 12, 1966, Steven was inducted into the US Army and served until his honorable discharge on June 16, 1968. He then returned home to Granville to farm.
On April 20, 1974 he married Marilyn Croatt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA. The couple made their home on the farm near Granville.
Steve was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Granville Veterans Color Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles, John Deere tractors and especially bowling with his team. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Granville, IA; 8 children, Lisa (Chris) Peters of Ashton, IA, Tim (Krissa) Paulsen of Sheldon, IA, Brian (Nicki) Paulsen of Granville, IA, Joni (Scott) Blakeman of Des Moines, IA, Travis Paulsen of Granville, IA, Chad Paulsen of Des Moines, IA, Adam (Jen) Paulsen of Des Moines, IA, Nic (Josie) Paulsen of Bondurant, IA; 18 grandchildren; his siblings, Ronald (Cheryl) Paulsen, Mary Jean Nilles, Linda (Tom) Linden, Janice (John) Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 siblings in infancy, James Edward & Rose Ann; one brother, Richard Paulsen; his in-laws, Arnold & Clara Croatt; brother-in-law, James Nilles.
Casket bearers will be his 6 sons, Tim, Brian, Travis, Chad, Adam & Nic.
