Dale Stuhr

Marcus, Iowa – Dale H. Stuhr, 81, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Earnest- Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. Rev. Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Earnest - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation on Wednesday prior to the funeral.
Dale Henry Stuhr was born on August 17, 1930 at Omaha, Nebraska, the only child of Harold and Marie (Graybill) Stuhr. He attended school in Persia, Iowa. On November 15, 1951, Dale enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served during the Korean War as the operator of a personnel carrier. He earned his Honorable Discharge on June 26,1953 having attained the rank of PFC(T) Following the war, Dale made his home in Marcus where he began his career as an automotive mechanic with Grey's Garage.
In June of 1954 Dale and Beverly Hobson were married at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Dale worked at several garages throughout the years prior to his retirement. He was an avid car fan.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Barbara (James) Leist of Canton, SD, Dan (Liz) Stuhr of Thonotosassa, FL, Raymond (Devon) Stuhr of Phoenix, AZ, Linda (Robert Mercel) Janssen of Tampa, FL and Dale C. (Teresa) Stuhr of Alta, IA; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Jared) Soundy, Jessica and Joseph Leist, Jeremy, Timothy and Chris Foster, Austin Stuhr, Chloe Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Beverly.
