Theresa M. Pick, 100 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at her home in Arnolds Park, IA. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010. There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Theresa was born May 30, 1910 at rural Alton, IA, the daughter of William & Clara (Reith) Minten. She was raised in the Alton area and received her education at St. Mary’s Academy in Alton. On June 25, 1935 she married Gregor Pick at St. mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. They made their home in Remsen. In 1944 they purchased Harges Cottages at West Lake Okoboji, IA renaming it Pick’s Lakeshore Resort. They spent their summers operating the resort and winters in Remsen. Gregor died July 16, 1976 and Theresa continued to operate the resort until Nov. 2010. She was a member of Remsen St. Mary’s Catholic Church & church guild. Theresa enjoyed sewing and machine knitting. She is survived by; two sons and their wives, Larry and Jenny of Arnolds Park, IA, Thomas and Suzanne of Brentwood, TN; five grandchildren, Gregory Pick and his wife Lisa of Spencer, IA, Cindy Pick of San Diego, CA, Diane Hanigan of Grimes, IA, Linda Wilson and her husband Brad of Franklin, TN, Michael Felton and his wife Leslie of Spirit Lake, IA; nine great-grandchildren, Brian, Katelyn and Susan of Grimes, IA, Cameron, Jon and Katelyn of Spencer, IA, Olivia, Ethan and Cody of Spirit Lake, IA; one sister-in-law, Jackie Minten of Orange City, IA; niece, Jolene Treinen of Ira, IA and several more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Catherine in infancy, Melinda Duits and her husband Richard, Eleanor Ruppert and her husband Lawrence, Bernice Treinen and her husband LeRoy, Julianna Langel and her husband Clarence; two brothers, Norbert Minten in infancy and Robert Minten.
